The good news is that if you are a beginner, then from Day 1, Uke'n participate and make music. Remember the Uke is a fun instrument.

We hold structured lessons to maximise collaborative learning and encourage you to actively engage in learning.

What we teach

  • To learn how to hold your ukulele - the loose hand position.

  • To have fun!

  • The basics:

    • Tuning the uke.

    • Timing - how to feel the rhythm and stay with the beat. The most most important thing is to be accurate rather than quick.

    • Strumming - to ensure you get a clear sound.

    • Playing chords - fingering and reading Tabs.

    • Picking.

    • Listening.

    • Taking care of your instrument.

    • Where to find your favourite songs​.

We have an active beginners program​, however we also cater for all levels of expertise.


  • Fortnightly jam sessions at Latitude 29 Cafe in Yamba.

  • Workshops with guest tutors.

  • Private lessons ... ask Annie.

  • Invitations to join in the fun with other ukulele groups.
